Cleaning My Ghost Blog House

I took time Sunday morning to do some necessary housekeeping on my Ghost Blog. I've never had the hoped-for response or interaction with the blog, but that is my fault. There were too many long gaps between posts, and at least one former friend disagreed with so much of what I said that he unsubscribed.

If there were one feature I would ask Ghost to include, it would be to notify when someone unsubscribes. Unfortunately, my followers list dropped from 15 to 9 after I reviewed my account information. Such is life. I learned years ago just to let things like that slide. I refuse to waste time thinking about what I might have done wrong, because my blog belongs to me. It is my voice, and mine alone.

Consistency is my enemy when it comes to blogging, and only self-discipline can correct that. For that reason alone, I've never wanted to beg for followers, let alone paid subscriptions. I simply can't produce enough valuable content right now. I need to clean up my backlog of craft blog posts, either complete and publish them or delete them if I don't think I will ever complete them.

I know that I will feel so much better about myself when I see that backlog shrinking. The feeling of accomplishment is like a drug that pushes me forward. Writing in small increments suits me now, but that can change. In fact, I have continued writing in small bursts over the last week without the burden of unnecessary deadlines. Despite my best efforts, my backlog numbers crept back up slightly, so I have to go through and purge some more old items that are no longer relevant.

I've noticed several Substack users are migrating to Ghost. I am happy with both Substack and Ghost for the time being.
